Planting Design
Our planting designs evolve from conversations with our clients on how they would like to live in their garden and how they would like to be surrounded. We work collaboratively to understand their lifestyle and wishes.
Where we can we make use of existing planting, looking at how current planting can be improved rather than simply stripping out and starting again, this is far more ecological and our much preferred approach.
We have a preference towards naturalistic planting but are led by our clients - we are just happy to be enriching gardens and bringing delight to clients

Planting Project Hampshire
A garden within a beautiful mature tree setting that has dramatic, far reaching reaching views over the Hampshire countryside.
The planting creates a near view that can be enjoyed from within the house or whilst in the garden
The main border is 23m long and spans the house from the front garden to the back. We have created a rhythm in the planting that whilst each area has its own character to reflect its use/zone, there is also a continuation in the theme of the planting to stop it from feeling fragmented.
The planting is modern country in style with classic plants such as Nepeta, Iris and Tiarellas as well as plants for texture and movement. The planting is planned to provide long periods of interest from early Spring to late Autumn with a succession of plants reaching their peak at different times.

The former vegetable beds have also been planted - these greet the clients as they leave their back door and need to look good most of the year round - the planting is classic with David Austin roses, has a fun element with the alliums offering height, colour and moment as wells as the Astrantias with their star like flowers lasting for a long period of time.

Planting Design - Wokingham
A large Mediterranean inspired patio with large planting beds, off set to each other that created zones for dining and seating area. In order for this to come to life it needed planting. The clients wanted textured planting which would look good year round and this is supplemented with seasonal variety to add delight.
When designing these borders I wanted to create a consistency across the different sections whilst giving each one a slightly different character, befitting its location in the garden. All of the planting softens the hard landscaping and enhances the overall impact.

I ended up with a garden that far surpassed my expectations that brings us so much joy - SJ2023
